I guess the root (hehe) of my question is whether or not I should bother installing the ASUS linux drivers since it does work, somewhat, without them. I was going to give it a shot but the readme got weird and started asking me to compile things in a directory that didn't exist.

ASUS has some linux drivers available on their website but I'm not sure if it would be helpful at all to install them.

I re-boot my computer and it works just fine again. All of a sudden I just no longer have access to the internet at all. The problem is that it seems to drop signal more than it used to with Windows. It has been natively recognized by ubuntu and I'm able to connect to my home network (I assume with just the generic drivers that come with ubuntu). I have a desktop with an ASUS PCE-N15 wireless adapter card. I used openSUSE for about a week and am 3 days into giving ubuntu a whirl. I'm really new to linux and I'm really loving it.
